Salary
VRECC has 32 employment positions with starting salaries as follows:
- Public Safety Telecommunicator I - $15.28 hourly
- Public Safety Telecommunicator II - $16.33 hourly
Upon receiving the New Mexico Telecommunicators certification, Public Safety Telecommunicators I receive an increase to $16.16 hourly.
Insurance
- Health Insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico.
- VRECC pays up to 100% of an employee's health insurance.
- Dental Insurance is provided through Delta Dental.
- Vision Insurance is provided through Davis Vision and Vision Care Direct.
Employees, their qualifying spouse or domestic partner, and qualifying dependents are eligible for insurance coverage.
Retirement
Participation in the state retirement plan, PERA, is required. VRECC pays a portion of an employee's required contribution.
Wellness & Stress Management
VRECC employees have free access to the Calm app. The Calm app provides meditation instruction, sleep assistance, videos on mindful movement and stretching, and relaxing music.
VRECC also has an always-available on-site gym for employee use.
Sick Leave, Vacation Time, Paid Parental Leave, and Holidays
Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 4 hours twice a month to a maximum of 800 hours.
Full-time employees accrue annual leave twice a month on the following schedule:

Accrued sick and annual leave balances may be paid out at the time of retirement.
Part-time employees regularly working a minimum of 20 hours per week accrue half of full-time employee leave. All other employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every thirty hours worked.
VRECC provides twelve days of paid holiday leave annually with the addition of a personal holiday to be used at any time. Other paid leave includes jury duty, bereavement, voting, and annual military service.
VRECC provides 4 standard work weeks of paid parental leave to be used within six (6) months of the birth, adoption, or placement of a foster child.
